BUAK

For Employees

The Construction Workers’ Annual Leave and Severance Pay Fund [Bauarbeiter-Urlaubs- und Abfertigungskasse] (BUAK) makes payments that are regulated by the Construction Workers’ Annual Leave and Severance Pay Act [Bauarbeiter-Urlaubs- und Abfertigungsgesetz] (BUAG) and the Bad Weather Compensation for Construction Workers Act [Bauarbeiter-Schlechtwetterentschädigungsgesetz] (BSchEG), and by the various collective agreements in force.

BUAK’s main purpose is the settlement of holiday remuneration, severance pay, winter holiday and bad weather compensation, and the interim supplement paid to unemployed construction workers prior to retirement.

BUAK organises employers’ contribution payments, manages and invests the capital paid in, and settles payment claims made by employees.

Alongside its primary tasks, BUAK has also been charged with various other tasks. For example, one of these is the collection and forwarding of the training contribution.

Unless otherwise specified below, the provisions of this federal law apply to employees (apprentices) whose employment contracts are based on a private-law contract and who work in companies (businesses) pursuant to § 2 BUAG, and to employees who are posted outside of Austria by an employer whose company headquarters are located within Austria. More information on the scope of application established by law can be found in § 1 BUAG.
