Snow

Snow
The depth of the fresh snow  is measured at 7 a.m.
5 cm of fresh snow are equivalent to one hour of bad weather, 15 cm or more are equivalent two hours, and with more than 30 cm, the entire day is treated as bad weather.

Total snow depth
The total snow depth (old and fresh snow) is measured at 7 a.m. as is the fresh snow. However, the total snow depth never contributes to categorisation as a bad weather event; only the fresh snow depth does. This is because snow  that obstructs work can be cleared away. Fresh snow represents a hindrance, on the other hand, and may need to be cleared away for the next work day.

Note
For snowfall after 7 a.m., the criteria for rain/precipitation are used. 1 cm of new snow corresponds to about 1mm of precipitation as rain; wet snow, e.g. in springtime, corresponds to a bit more. That is, the amount of precipitation is measured every hour, and if it snows for at least 30 minutes, that hour is counted as a bad weather hour.

Example
For example, if there are 5 cm of fresh snow at 7 a.m., one hour of bad weather is counted. If it snows more afterwards, the criteria for precipitation are used.
That is, the amount of precipitation is measured every hour, and if it snows for at least 30 minutes, that hour is deemed a bad weather hour.
